Age
You must be at least 19 years of age as of 31 August, 2023.
English address
You must have an English address and be based in England.
Right to work
You must have a right to work in the UK.
No other Skills Bootcamp
You must have not attended another Skills Bootcamp in the funding year.
Digital sector
You must be looking to enter or progress within employment in the digital sector and gain new employment within six months of programme completion.
Good Grants application
You must have completed an application in Good Grants to confirm your eligibility.

This course provides students with the hard and soft skills needed to pursue a career in front-end web development. Students will learn in-demand skills through a market-driven curriculum that includes HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, React.js, ES6, and Node. This course provides students with a crash course in application programming interfaces (APIs), user experience (UX) design, and building and deploying modern web applications.

Learn front-end fundamental concepts of web development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Git, and Github.

Learn how to use JavaScript frameworks to leverage and manipulate data via application programming interfaces (APIs).

Develop a portfolio of web applications and showcase your relevant front-end skills with popular, market-driven libraries like React.js.

This part-time programme is designed for working adults, students, and busy professionals seeking advancement in the tech industry. It combines flexible online content with required, live virtual classes and office hours.

Required classes are held weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays,
and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m.

Office hours are held before and after class on Tuesdays, Wednesdays,
and Thursdays, and include compulsory career service sessions
throughout the course.

All classes and office hours are held live via Zoom.

Skills Bootcamps are fully funded for learners by the UK Government Department for Education (DfE) as part of their Skills for Life scheme. The DfE invests in lifelong learning, helping people gain new skills in a flexible and accessible way at any stage of their lives. You will not be required to pay a tuition fee at any point during the programme.

This Skills Bootcamp is specifically designed for and exclusively available to learners who seek career advancement in the digital sector. As a fully funded learner, you’re required to engage with career services and share evidence of your career progression during and after the Skills Bootcamp.

If you’re not currently employed in a digital skills role, our goal is to help you secure a new job or apprenticeship with a new employer, using the skills you acquired, within six months of your completion of the Skills Bootcamp. If you’re self-employed, our goal is to help you use your new skills to secure new opportunities or contracts, and this within six months of your completion of the Skills Bootcamp.

Those looking to upskill in their current role are not eligible for this programme.

This part-time programme requires 11 hours of in-class time per week. In addition, you must be willing to dedicate a minimum of 15-20 hours to outside work per week, depending on experience, to truly immerse yourself in the materials covered in class.
While some background knowledge is helpful, no prior experience with programming is required as long as you’re dedicated and eager to learn. You’ll be expected to complete required pre-course tutorials (“prework”) before the start of class, which will help you prepare for our programme.

The Skills Bootcamp in Front-End Web Development has an application process to ensure all candidates are eligible for funding provided by the DfE.

Step 1: Good Grants application. The Good Grants application consists of a few questions and should take about 10 minutes to complete. It will help us to get to know you better and confirm your eligibility for funding. The link to the Good Grants application will be provided to you once you have requested information via the form above.

Step 2: Enrollment. Once you have completed your Good Grants application and verified your eligibility for the programme, you will need to log in to our online portal to complete your enrolment in the class. This includes completing a brief application and signing your enrollment documents. The link to the online portal will be provided to you once you have requested information via the form above.

To enrol in the programme, you must:

  • You must be aged 19 or older as of 31 August, 2023.
  • You must be living and/or residing in England.
  • You must meet AEB residency requirements (residency requirements can be found here)
  • You must have the right to work in the UK (this right can be checked on this webpage)
  • You must be looking to enter or progress within employment in the digital sector; learners seeking promotion with their existing company are not eligible.
  • You must not have attended another Skills Bootcamp in the funding year.

Please note individuals who are on a student visa in the UK may not be eligible for funding. If you’re unsure of your status, please review the AEB residency requirements.

The programme is delivered in American English, and students must demonstrate the necessary level of proficiency to be successful in the Skills Bootcamp. For more information, please chat with an admissions officer.

Yes, a reliable laptop is required for this course. Laptops can be Mac or PC, with a minimum of 8GB RAM and a 64-bit dual-core processor. For the installation of the required software, you’ll need administrative privileges for your designated device. This will allow you to successfully install and run key software during the programme.

You’ll also need a high-speed internet connection, and a webcam. A second monitor is recommended but not required. If you’re unsure if your laptop meets the requirements, please chat with an admissions officer.

Once you’re officially enrolled, you must complete your prework before your classes kick off. Aim to complete your prework a week before class, but note that you’ll only be required to fully complete the work by the start of class. If you don’t complete the prework in time, you won't be able to participate in the course. However, you may have the opportunity to enrol in the next cohort, space permitting.

Yes. This Skills Bootcamp is specifically designed for learners seeking career advancement in the digital sector. We offer all learners career support and coaching. This support includes portfolio reviews, résumé assistance, and technical interview training. In addition, we offer experiential learning opportunities to strengthen your portfolio.
